Cynthia Francisco is a teaching assistant professor at Oklahoma State University (OSU), overseeing Math Structures and Geometric Structures courses for preservice early childhood and elementary teachers while teaching online Business Calculus. Her work centers on innovative mathematics pedagogy and curriculum design within higher education and K-12 settings.
Her research focuses on mathematics education, curriculum development, and teacher preparation, with emphasis on standards-based classroom implementation, technology integration in algebra instruction, and writing-to-learn strategies. She investigates how heterogeneous classrooms engage with honors work and computer-aided learning components to improve mathematical understanding across diverse student populations.
Francisco pioneered Cornell University's first mathematics writing seminar "Experiencing Mathematics through Writing" as part of writing-across-disciplines initiatives. She led OSU's 2008 College Algebra redesign using a modified emporium model supported by the National Center for Academic Transformation. Her contributions extend to the Core-Plus Mathematics Project as a pilot teacher and researcher, and the COMPASS project improving NCTM standards implementation nationwide.
