Cynthia Lin, an Associate Professor of Painting and Drawing at Purchase College, School of Art+Design, is a Brooklyn-based artist born in Taiwan and raised near Chicago, Illinois. Her work explores cultural conflict through topographic depictions of skin, Earth, and other planets, using techniques like meditative tracing and distorted imprints.
Her research focuses on reconciling contradictions in cultural biases, climate change, and U.S. border dynamics, transforming factual maps into metaphorical "data" that invites alternate interpretations. Exhibitions include solo shows at Westchester Community College and Drew University, and group shows at The Drawing Center, Lehmann Maupin Gallery, and international venues.
