Dr. Cynthia Katsarelis serves as Assistant Professor of the Practice in Conducting at the University of Notre Dame, directing the Ritornello Chamber Orchestra while concurrently leading the Pro Musica Colorado Chamber Orchestra. With over 50 orchestras conducted following her Cincinnati Symphony apprenticeship, she bridges academic and professional music spheres through innovative programming.

Her research focuses on amplifying underrepresented composers through world premieres and commissions, extending to opera, mixed media, and cross-disciplinary collaborations with choirs and dancers. Deeply committed to music's social impact, she integrates Haitian music education initiatives with scholarly analysis of composers like Shostakovich and Louise Farrenc.
Recognized for creative programming excellence with ensembles including the Buffalo Philharmonic and North Carolina Symphony, she actively shapes the field through International Conductors Guild leadership where she chaired the Women's Caucus and moderated diversity-focused panels.
