Cynthia Imogen Hammond is Professor of Art History at Concordia University, specializing in place-based spatial practices and feminist approaches to urban environments. Her research-creation methodology explores intersections of architecture, community memory, and ecological awareness through projects like 'La Ville Extraordinaire' and 'The Spaces of Restorative and Transitional Justice'.
Her scholarly work examines gender dimensions in architectural history and urban landscapes, recovering overlooked spatial contributions by women in cities like Bath and Montreal. Current projects analyze intergenerational knowledge transfer and scenographic interventions in urban spaces, with particular focus on aging populations in Montreal. Recent publications investigate spatial transformations in transitional justice contexts and eco-didactic approaches in public art.
Dr. Hammond has developed frameworks connecting restorative justice principles with spatial design in Colombia, examining how justice processes materialize in built environments during pandemic conditions. Her ecological art collaborations demonstrate how sustainable design principles can foster public awareness of climate change.
