Cynthia Carbone is an Adjunct Professor in the Dance and Theatre department at Meredith College. With over 40 years of teaching experience across private studios, public schools, and universities, she specializes in dance education and choreography. Her academic background includes a BFA in Dance from The Ohio State University, teacher certification from UNC-Greensboro, and an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from NC State University.
Her research and practice focus on dance education innovation, having co-authored Implementing the National Dance Standards. She has presented at national conferences and workshops, leveraging her 2004 National Dance Educator of the Year award to advocate for arts education.
Professional achievements include National Board certification (2004) and leadership roles in NCAAHPERD D.A.N.C.E. organizations. She has mentored 16 student teachers and contributed as a guest choreographer for musical theater productions at NC State, Meredith College, and Raleigh Little Theater.
Her career spans performance with modern dance companies in Chicago, Madison-Wisconsin, and Raleigh, blending artistic practice with academic rigor.
