Brian Franco-Winn is Assistant Professor of Dance at Winthrop University's College of Visual and Performing Arts. Holding an MFA in Choreography from UNC Greensboro and BFA from Winthrop, his research explores intersections of gender, sexuality, and dance through choreographic practice.
Franco-Winn has performed with professional companies including Caroline Calouche & Co. and maintains an active choreography practice focused on creating inclusive representations in concert dance. He directs Etude performing arts organization and designs for ensembles like Carolina Crown and Tampa Independent.
His teaching encompasses contemporary/modern technique, jazz, improvisation, choreography, and dance history. Franco-Winn serves on advisory boards for Carolina Winter Ensemble Association and Winter Guard International.
