Crystal Ives Tallman, MD is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), practicing and teaching at the UCSF Fresno campus. She also serves as the Education Director for EM Critical Care within the Department of Emergency Medicine at UCSF Fresno. A dual board-certified physician in Emergency Medicine and Anesthesia Critical Care, Dr. Tallman is actively involved in both clinical care and academic education, particularly in the Emergency Department and Medical ICU.

Dr. Tallman's clinical and research focus lies at the intersection of emergency medicine and critical care, with a particular emphasis on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), thromboelastography (TEG), and trauma-related critical care. Her work spans from bedside diagnostics and resuscitation strategies to systemic outcomes in critically ill patients, including obstetric populations and toxicological emergencies.
Scientific Publications:
Her recent publications reflect a strong commitment to improving care in high-acuity settings. These include case reports on ECMO use in pregnancy with COVID-19, investigations into metformin overdose management, and studies on lung-protective ventilation strategies. Her earlier work includes foundational trauma research using thromboelastography to predict mortality and guide resuscitation.
