Richard Witkov

Dr. Richard Witkov is an Assistant Professor at the McGovern Medical School, UTHealth Houston, specializing in Emergency Medicine and Critical Care. A board-certified physician with extensive clinical expertise, he focuses on critical care management across prehospital, Emergency Department, and Intensive Care Unit settings, with a particular emphasis on resuscitative extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO).

Dr. Witkov’s research and clinical work center on advancing ECMO delivery through innovative programs, including the first Mobile ECMO Unit in the U.S. and pioneering care at the Houston Chevron Marathon. He has received multiple teaching awards, including the Dean’s Teaching Excellence Award and Outstanding Bedside Teaching GME Award, reflecting his commitment to medical education.

His accolades include the Memorial Hermann Southwest Challenge Coin, recognizing extraordinary contributions to patient care, and the Best Senior Grand Rounds Award during his fellowship. Dr. Witkov actively lectures on critical care and plays a key role in developing cutting-edge resuscitation protocols, demonstrating his dedication to improving public health outcomes.
