Cristina "Tina" Negritto is an Associate Professor of Molecular Biology at Pomona College, where she has served since 2001. She also acts as the Director and Coordinator of the Molecular Biology program, contributing to academic leadership and course organization.
- Education: Ph.D. from Beckman Research Institute of the City of Hope National Medical Center; Licenciada from Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Negritto's research focuses on genome maintenance mechanisms, particularly DNA repair processes and their implications in genome instability. Her work leverages yeast genetics and molecular biology to explore fundamental cellular repair pathways.
Her recent publications highlight investigations into double-strand break repair, enzyme evolution in Tetrahymena thermophila, and the role of helicases like RAD3 in suppressing recombination errors. These studies span disciplines such as molecular genetics, biochemistry, and evolutionary biology.
- Scientific Honor: Pomona College's Wig Distinguished Professor Award for Excellence in Teaching (2013)
