Courtney A. Weber is the Horticulture Section Head and Professor at Cornell University's School of Integrative Plant Science. She leads the berry breeding program at Cornell AgriTech, focusing on developing disease-resistant, high-quality berry varieties for New York growers. Her work integrates traditional breeding with modern genomic tools, emphasizing flavor, shelf-life, and nutritional benefits.
Education: PhD (1999), MS (1994) in Horticulture from University of Florida; BS (1991) in Agriculture from University of Illinois.
Research interests include berry genetics, pest resistance strategies, and phytochemical analysis. Collaborations span food science, entomology, and plant pathology to address grower challenges. Recent innovations include the Crimson series raspberries (Crimson Beauty/Blush), enhancing market competitiveness.
Publications focus on breeding methodologies, resistance mechanisms, and fruit quality. Active in extension programs to translate research into grower practices.
