Cory Albertson is a Lecturer in the Department of Sociology at Georgia State University's College of Arts & Sciences. His scholarship bridges media cultures, rhetorical studies, gender and sexuality studies, and social justice movements, with a focus on queer theory and pop culture.
Albertson earned his Ph.D. from Georgia State University in 2015. His research explores intersections of media representation, LGBTQ+ rights, and cultural politics, exemplified by his book A Perfect Union? Television and the Winning of Same-Sex Marriage (Routledge, 2018), which garnered media attention from CNN en Español, NPR, and CBS.
His teaching portfolio includes courses on Introduction to Sociology, family dynamics, feminist theory, queer theory, and film/television analysis. Albertson has received pedagogical recognition through the Jacqueline Boles Excellence in Teaching Fellowship and Georgia State's Certificate for Excellence in College Teaching (both 2014).
