Cornelia Staritz is an Associate Professor at the University of Vienna's Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of International Development. Her research focuses on development economics, global value chains, labor rights in global production networks, and commodity-based development. She is a member of the Vienna Doctoral School of Social Sciences (ViDSS) Steering Committee and the Doctoral Advisory Board. Her work critically examines power asymmetries in globalized trade and financial systems, with a regional focus on Africa and Southeast Asia.

Recent publications analyze the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement's impact on labor, critical minerals (lithium, copper) in green transitions, and supply chain resilience post-pandemic.
