Dr. Corlie Giliomee serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Social Work and Criminology at the University of Pretoria, where she has taught developmental social work, theories for social work practice, and social development for the past decade. She currently holds the position of Treasurer for the Association of Schools of Social Work in Africa (ASSWA) since June 2018 and actively participates in the University and College Consortium for Human Rights Education (UCCHRE).
Her educational background includes a Doctorate completed in 2020 with the thesis titled "Exploring human rights education at schools of social work in Southern and East Africa".
Dr. Giliomee's research centers on decolonial approaches to human rights education within African social work contexts, emphasizing social justice, social development frameworks, and homelessness interventions. She champions the advancement of social work education across the continent through collaborative international scholarship and institutional development.
Through her leadership in ASSWA and engagement with UCCHRE, she drives regional coordination among African social work institutions while contributing to global human rights education discourse through scholarly debates with international experts.
