Corinne Ness serves as Professor of Music, Dean of the Division of Arts and Humanities and Education, Director of the Master of Music in Music Theatre Vocal Pedagogy, and Interim Director of the Women’s and Gender Studies Program at Carthage College.
Her educational background includes:
- B.M. in choral music education from Northern Illinois University
- M.M. with honors in vocal performance from Roosevelt University
- Ph.D. with honors in cultural and educational policy study from Loyola University Chicago
Prof. Ness's research centers on music theatre vocal pedagogy, voice pedagogy, and the intersection of cultural representation with singing education. She has pioneered techniques for teaching contemporary repertoire and conducted extensive research on vocal pedagogy in diverse cultural contexts through her work in China, focusing on integrated learning techniques and assessment methodologies.
Her scholarly publications demonstrate a consistent focus on practical applications for music theatre educators, emphasizing vocal health, cultural sensitivity, and performance artistry across diverse musical styles and educational settings.
