Professor Corinne Lennox serves as Co-Director of the Human Rights Consortium and Reader in Human Rights at the Institute of Commonwealth Studies, School of Advanced Study, University of London. She also directs the MA in Human Rights by distance learning program and has extensive experience as a human rights consultant and trainer with organizations including Minority Rights Group International, UNDP, and the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.
Her research spans multiple critical areas of human rights protection, with a particular emphasis on minority and indigenous rights. She examines how civil society mobilizes for human rights advancement, the intersection of human rights and development, and the specific challenges faced by marginalized communities including Afro-descendants in Latin America and Dalits experiencing caste-based discrimination. Her work also addresses the human rights of LGBT+ persons and academic freedom in contemporary educational contexts.
Professor Lennox's scholarly output reveals consistent engagement with evolving human rights frameworks, particularly regarding minority rights protection mechanisms and the implementation of international standards at national levels. Her research shows increasing attention to the challenges of academic freedom in digital learning environments and the protection of marginalized communities in business supply chains.
She has supervised numerous doctoral students whose research examines critical issues including women's bodies as intangible cultural heritage, political sociology of Caribbean populations, decolonizing transitional justice for Afro-descendant communities, and indigenous women's leadership in resource extraction contexts.
