Prof. Dr. habil. Corinna Onnen is a University Professor of General Sociology with a focus on Gender Studies at the University of Vechta, where she has held her position since 2008. She heads the Sociology Department within the School of Social Sciences and serves as the spokesperson for Sociology. Her office is located in room E138a at the University of Vechta's Driverstraße 22 campus in Vechta, Germany.
Professor Onnen's research focuses span Family Sociology, Gender Research, and Medical Sociology, with empirical emphasis on divorces, childless marriages, professional and life paths of women in academia, reproductive technologies, and women's labor markets in regional contexts. Her work increasingly addresses sustainability, digitalization, and their intersections with gender and social structures.
Her recent publications demonstrate a clear trajectory toward examining contemporary societal challenges through the lens of gender and social inequality. She has made significant contributions to understanding how digital transformation affects social organizations, how sustainability concepts can be integrated into consumer behavior, and how traditional family structures are evolving in modern society. Her work consistently bridges theoretical frameworks with empirical research, particularly focusing on gender dynamics across various social domains.

Professor Onnen supervises numerous doctoral candidates across diverse topics including transgender workplace integration, women's career paths in corporate management, globalization's impact on labor division, and diversity management implementation. She has established a significant research profile through third-party funded projects such as 'Gender (& Diversity) in Medicine' (since January 2015) and 'Egera' (2014-2018). Her leadership extends to editing the book series 'Current Problems of Modern Societies' since 2010, which has published over 20 volumes addressing pressing contemporary social issues.
