Dr. Corey E. Whitehead is a Professor of Music at the California State University, Fresno, specifically within the College of Arts and Humanities. He is a renowned guitarist with expertise in both classical and flamenco traditions, having received formal training from institutions like The University of Arizona and The University of Córdoba under legendary flamenco guitarist Manolo Sanlúcar.

Dr. Whitehead's research focuses on the intersection of Spanish Renaissance/Baroque music, flamenco's folkloric origins, and the music of Manolo Sanlúcar. He has authored/co-authored two books in Mel Bay Publications' repertoire series, contributed 30 transcriptions to the Flamenco: Obra Didactica-Aristica series, and is expanding his work on Greek diaspora influences in Iberian musical traditions.
His scholarly output includes theoretical articles on flamenco harmony and festival documentation. Dr. Whitehead's performance career spans diverse genres, from classical to rock collaborations with artists like David Ellefson and Herman Rarebell. He leads the only flamenco guitar degree program in the Americas at Fresno State, maintaining its global reputation through international outreach and pedagogical innovation.
