William Fitzhugh is an Adjunct Professor of Music at Cumberland University, affiliated with the Millard and JJ Oakley School of Humanities, Education and the Arts. He holds a B.S. and M.Mu. in Classical Guitar Performance from Austin Peay State University, studying under Dr. Stanley Yates. His career spans over 30 years of performance across genres including rock, jazz, gospel, country, mariachi, classical, Dixieland, and bluegrass.

Research interests focus on musical performance and pedagogy, with a specialization in classical guitar adaptation for steel-string instruments. He authored "Classical Guitar for the Steel String Guitarist" (Hal Leonard) and has performed with notable groups like the Nashville Symphony Orchestra and the Nashville Vintage Mandolin Quartet. His career highlights include collaborations with artists such as Razzy Bailey, Alan Jackson, and Vassar Clements, as well as an eight-year tenure at Opryland Show Park.
Teaching: He has instructed at area colleges since 1999, emphasizing hands-on performance training. Current ensembles include solo performances and work with multiple regional groups.
