Connie Mizak

Dr. Connie Mizak is an Instructor III and Undergraduate Advisor in Environmental Science and Policy at the University of South Florida’s Department of Geography. She holds a Ph.D. in Civil & Environmental Engineering and an MPH in Environmental Health from USF, and an M.S. in Environmental Engineering from NJIT. Her research examines air pollution impacts on human health and ecosystems, notably atmospheric ammonia deposition in Tampa Bay and power plant emissions.

Research focuses include:

• Air quality effects on estuaries and public health
• Nitrogen flux dynamics in coastal systems
• Policy development for urban runoff and pollution control

Courses taught span Environmental Science, Policy, Sustainable Communities, and Internship Seminars. Awards include a National Water Research Institute Fellowship and multiple AWMA recognitions for scholarly presentations.
