معرفی
Congwu Du is a Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Stony Brook University, with affiliations in the Department of Anesthesiology and the Brain Optical Imaging Laboratory. His research focuses on developing advanced optical techniques to study physiological processes in the brain and heart, including drug-induced abnormalities such as cocaine's effects. He employs multimodal imaging platforms combining laser speckle imaging, optical coherence tomography, and calcium fluorescence imaging to investigate cerebral hemodynamics, metabolism, and neuronal activities.
- Education: PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Luebeck University, Germany (1996); M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Optoelectronics and Near-Infrared Optics from Huazhong University of Science & Technology (1988, 1985).
- Professional Experience: Postdoctoral training at the University of Pennsylvania and Carnegie Mellon University, followed by roles at Brookhaven National Laboratory and Stony Brook University since 2006.
Research interests include neuroimaging modality integration, tissue oximetry, and translational medical physics. He has received notable awards for mentorship and innovative research, including NIH grants and Department of Energy recognition.
Teaching responsibilities include BME 311 (Fundamentals of Bioimaging) and BME 503 (Cellular & Biomedical Optical Imaging). His work bridges engineering and medicine, contributing to both academic and clinical applications in neuroimaging.
