Cong Su is an Assistant Professor of Materials Science at Yale University, with an additional appointment in Applied Physics. He leads the Atomic Engineering Group (AtomE), focusing on atomic-scale manipulation using electron beams and the study of 2D materials' physical properties. His research integrates materials synthesis, atomic imaging, optical spectroscopy, and computational modeling. Su holds a Ph.D. from MIT and a B.S. from Peking University.
Research interests include tailoring atomic structures via electron beams, in-situ TEM methods for crystal studies, and synthesizing 1D/2D materials. Key projects involve creating defect-engineered quantum emitters and investigating strain effects on semiconductor properties. His group develops novel manufacturing tools using TEM for atomic-scale fabrication.
