Arkady Krasheninnikov

Dr. Arkady Krasheninnikov is a Researcher and Group Leader of the 'Atomistic Simulations of Irradiation-Induced Phenomena' group at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR), within the Institute of Ion Beam Physics and Materials Research, Department of Ion Beam Center. His research focuses on understanding defects in two-dimensional (2D) materials under ion and electron irradiation, leveraging advanced computational methods like ab-initio molecular dynamics and atomistic simulations. Key areas include irradiation-induced phenomena, defect engineering, and electronic/structural properties of materials such as graphene, transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), and hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN).

Recent work spans topics like defect production thresholds, strain effects, ferroelectric domain dynamics, and photon-emitter creation in 2D systems.
