Colleen O’Manique is an Associate Professor in the Department of Global Justice and Development and affiliated with the Department of Gender and Women’s Studies at Trent University. She holds a PhD in Political Science from York University. Her research focuses on gender and global restructuring, global health governance, HIV/AIDS politics, and feminist critiques of security frameworks. She has authored and co-authored numerous books and articles, including Neoliberalism and AIDS Crisis in Sub-Saharan Africa: Globalization’s Pandemic (2004) and Global Health & Security: Critical Feminist Perspectives (forthcoming 2017).
Her work examines intersections of gender, health, and security in global contexts, with a focus on Sub-Saharan Africa, Canada, and South Africa. Recent publications analyze gender justice in post-MDG frameworks, global health securitization, and the political economy of philanthropy. She teaches courses on gender and international development, global health, and globalization.
Her research has been published in journals like Development, Politikon, and Routledge Handbook of Global Health Security. She has collaborated extensively with institutions such as the World Bank and contributed to policy debates on global health equity. O’Manique’s interdisciplinary approach bridges political science, feminist theory, and global development studies.
