Dr. Suzanne Hindmarch (she/her) is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of New Brunswick. Her research bridges global health, security studies, and critical theories of global politics, with a focus on the politics of infectious diseases.

Dr. Hindmarch investigates how global and domestic actors address infectious disease through political and policy strategies, emphasizing health equity for Indigenous, racialized, LGBTQIA+, and global South populations. Her work critiques global health security frameworks and One Health initiatives, analyzing their adoption and impact across governance levels.
She has authored the book Securing Health: HIV and the limits of securitization and co-edited Seeing Red: HIV/AIDS and Public Policy in Canada, contributing extensively to scholarship on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and HIV/AIDS governance. Her research is funded by SSHRC and CIHR grants.
Dr. Hindmarch teaches courses in international relations, global health, and global security, and is affiliated with the Gender and Women’s Studies interdisciplinary program. She supervises graduate research grounded in critical IR theories, including feminist, queer, and postcolonial approaches.
