Colin Mason is an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow. Previously, he held positions as Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Reader, and Professor at the University of Southampton (1978-2001), and Professor at the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship, University of Strathclyde (2001-2012). He joined the University of Glasgow in 2012. He has held visiting positions at numerous international universities including University of Ottawa, Memorial University of Newfoundland, Flinders University of South Australia, and Universidad Nacional de General Sarmiento.
Education: MA (Hons) in Geography and Economic History from University of Edinburgh; PhD in Economic Geography from University of Manchester.
Research focuses on entrepreneurship dynamics with expertise in entrepreneurial finance, business angel investing, venture capital markets, and regional enterprise policy development. His work examines the formation of entrepreneurial ecosystems, investment patterns during economic crises, and regional economic revitalization strategies.
Publications demonstrate sustained focus on entrepreneurial finance mechanisms, with recent emphasis on pandemic-era investment behaviors, green angel investing, and cross-border funding initiatives. Research frequently employs case study methodologies to examine regional development challenges.
