Clyde Beavers is an Adjunct Professor of violoncello at Asbury University and Transylvania University. He serves as Assistant Principal cellist of the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra and collaborates with ensembles such as the Ashland Trio, Beavers-Cooper Duo, and Beavers-Kiekenapp Duo. His professional activities include founding the Festival of Strings summer music camp in 1997 and recording works by Marcel Dupré with the Naxos label.
Education: DMA from the University of Kentucky, MM and BM from Juilliard School. His expertise spans cello performance, chamber music, and orchestral performance. He performs on a Timothy J. Jansma-made cello and collaborates frequently with pianist David Cooper in the Bluegrass area.
Notable contributions include his recordings of Dupré’s Sonata in A minor and chamber works, as well as his leadership in music education through the Festival of Strings. Beyond music, he is actively involved in rose cultivation and hybridization.
