Clayton Cloutier

Clayton Cloutier is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), affiliated with the Engineering & Mathematical Sciences school. He concurrently serves as an Associate at CSD Structural Engineers, specializing in heavy industrial structure design for steel mills and ASRS rack systems. Cloutier holds a PhD (2019), ME (2016), and BE (2014) in Civil Engineering from UWM.

His research focuses on sustainable infrastructure materials, including Portland cement in hybrid asphalt, coal combustion byproduct utilization, durability of asphalt pavements, and self-healing material properties. Recent work emphasizes waste valorization and thermomechanical performance of asphalt mixtures through ASCE and TRB conferences.

Cloutier actively bridges academia and industry via his role on UWM’s Civil Engineering Industrial Advisory Committee, ensuring curriculum alignment with industry standards.
