Baoshan Huang is a Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Tennessee, where he has served since January 2002. His research focuses on sustainable infrastructural materials, pavement engineering, and geotechnical systems. He leads a robust research program funded by federal and state agencies including the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT), and the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT).
His educational background includes a PhD from Louisiana State University (2000), and both an MS (1988) and BS (1984) from Tongji University, China. He is a registered professional engineer in Louisiana.
Huang’s research interests span infrastructural materials, including asphalt and concrete characterization and multi-scale modeling, pavement engineering covering design, testing, maintenance, and asset management, and geotechnical engineering involving soil improvement and deep foundations.
