Bruce Ramme

Bruce Ramme is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), and serves as Associate Director of the Center for By-Products Utilization. His expertise spans combustion byproduct utilization, sustainable construction materials, and environmental management. Ramme holds a PhD in Engineering and an EMBA from UWM, alongside MS and BS degrees in Civil Engineering and Structures from the same institution.

His research focuses on innovative uses of industrial byproducts such as fly ash in infrastructure materials, high-performance concrete/asphalt technologies, and environmental recycling strategies. He has contributed to advancements like EcoPad recycled-content pavements and CO2 sequestration via mineralization. His work bridges engineering and environmental sustainability, emphasizing practical applications.

Ramme’s awards include the ACI Wisconsin Orton Spanley Award, EPRI Technology Transfer Award, and the Edward A. Abdun-Nur Award for pioneering fly ash utilization. He is an ASCE Life Member and co-recipient of the ACAA Innovation Award bearing his name. His publications span over four decades, addressing topics from concrete mix design to large-scale waste management systems.

In addition to his academic role, Ramme’s professional contributions include advising on combustion products programs and collaborating with industry on sustainable infrastructure solutions. His research often intersects with real-world applications, promoting eco-friendly construction practices and material efficiency.
