Claudette Gardel is a Lecturer in the Department of Molecular Biology and Microbiology at Tufts University School of Medicine. She holds a Ph.D. from Harvard University (1990), an M.S. (1982), and a B.S. (1978) from the University of Massachusetts. Her research focuses on Molecular Biology and Microbiology, with specialization in bacterial pathogenesis, Vibrio cholerae virulence mechanisms, and protein export systems in Escherichia coli.
Her publications primarily explore bacterial pathogenicity, vaccine development, and protein transport mechanisms. Trends include:
- Early work on E. coli protein secretion (1987–1990)
- Extensive research on Vibrio cholerae virulence regulation (1994–1996)
- Contributions to live attenuated vaccine design (1995–1996)
Teaching activities include courses in Microbiology, Genetics, and Biochemistry at undergraduate and graduate levels since 2007.
