Clare Llewellyn is a full-time Professor of Psychology and Epidemiology at University College London, where she co-leads UCL-REACH (Research into Eating, Activity and Health) and serves as Deputy Head of the Department of Behavioural Science and Health. A Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society, she transitioned from the pharmaceutical industry to academia, completing an MSc (2007) and PhD (2011) at UCL before becoming Lecturer (2013), Associate Professor (2018), and full Professor (2024).

Research Interests span obesity etiology, eating disorders, appetite genetics, and behavioral susceptibility theory. She leads the Gemini twin cohort study (n=2402 families) and co-directs the NIHR Healthy Weight Policy Research Unit, focusing on evidence-based policy interventions. Her work integrates mixed methods (epidemiology, behavioral genetics, psychometrics) and person-based approaches to digital health interventions.
Scientific Awards include two Early Career Investigator Awards (2011). She has held editorial roles at International Journal of Obesity and Pediatric Obesity, and served as elected Trustee for the UK Association for the Study of Obesity (2014-2019).
Teaching includes convening UCL's MSc in Health Psychology and leading modules on chronic illness, mental/physical health, stress, and aging. She supervises 5 active PhD students (completing 13 to date) in behavioral genetics, nutritional epidemiology, and public health.
