Carrie Llewellyn

Professor Carrie Llewellyn serves as Head of the Department of Primary Care and Public Health at Brighton and Sussex Medical School (University of Brighton). A Chartered Psychologist and behavioral medicine expert, she leads research in sexual health and health inequalities among marginalized populations. Her work spans HIV/STI prevention, digital health interventions, and stigma reduction.

Research focuses on Public Health Psychology, Sexual Health & HIV, Coastal Community Health, and Health Data Science. She has >100 publications and is a lead editor of the Cambridge Handbook of Psychology, Health and Medicine (3rd ed.).

Recent publications highlight digital health tools, STI epidemiology in MSM populations, LGBTQ+ health disparities, and AI-driven behavioral interventions. Her work integrates quantitative (RCTs, cohort studies) and qualitative methodologies to address health inequities.
