Clare Jackson is an Honorary Professor of Early Modern History at the University of Cambridge and a Fellow of Trinity Hall. She specializes in Tudor, Stuart, and Georgian Britain. Her work explores political, religious, and intellectual history, with a focus on monarchical governance, national identity, and cultural conflict. She has authored award-winning books like *Devil-Land: England under Siege 1588-1688* (2021), which won the Wolfson History Prize. Jackson has also presented BBC documentaries on the Stuart dynasty, including *The Stuarts* and *The Stuarts in Exile*. She served as Senior Tutor at Trinity Hall from 2013 to 2023 and currently writes a biography of James VI & I, due in 2025.
Education: Jackson studied History at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, earned an MPhil from Aberystwyth University, and completed her PhD on royalist ideas in seventeenth-century Scotland at Cambridge. She held Research Fellowships at Sidney Sussex and Trinity Hall.
Research Interests: Her work spans political crises, religious conflict, and intellectual movements in early modern Britain. She examines themes such as monarchical legitimacy, union negotiations, and the intersections of law, religion, and power.

Advising & Grants: Supervised numerous PhD and MPhil students on topics like Scottish-Irish relations, regency politics, and legal history. Active in teaching advanced modules on early modern legal and political history.
