Dr Clare Glennan is a Senior Lecturer in Qualitative Social and Developmental Psychology at Cardiff School of Sport & Health Sciences, Cardiff Metropolitan University. She teaches undergraduate courses in Social Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Positive Psychology, and Research Methods, and contributes to the Foundation BSc Social Sciences program. Her research focuses on mature student well-being, widening educational access, and healthy ageing through socially engaging leisure activities.
Research projects include collaborations with Drs Jenny Mercer and Deborah Clayton exploring ageing populations' leisure activities. She developed an accredited Introduction to Psychology module delivered in Communities First Wales areas. Dr Glennan employs Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) and visual methods in her qualitative research.
Recent publications examine prison dairy worker experiences, asylum seekers' mental health in Wales, and farm animal-assisted rehabilitation for offenders. Her work bridges psychological theory with societal issues, emphasizing practical community impact.
Dr Glennan holds no listed academic awards but actively contributes to Cardiff Met's research environment through teaching, supervision, and interdisciplinary collaboration. She is affiliated with the Department of Applied Psychology and contributes to the university's commitment to social justice and inclusive education.
