Claire Goulsbra is a Senior Lecturer in Physical Geography and Reader in Geography at the University of Manchester's School of Environment and Development. She holds a PhD (2010-2011), MSc (2005-2006), and BSc (2002-2005) from the same institution. Her research focuses on peatland hydrology, geomorphology, and carbon flux dynamics in the South Pennines, emphasizing connectivity of hydrological pathways and innovative monitoring technologies.
Education:
- BSc Hons Geography, University of Manchester (2002-2005)
- MSc Environmental Monitoring, Modelling and Reconstruction (2005-2006)
- PhD: Monitoring hydrological pathways in peatland catchments (2006-2010)
Research interests include:
- Hydrological connectivity and flow pathways in peatlands
- Environmental monitoring using novel sensor technologies
- Carbon loss mechanisms in eroding peat systems
- Fluvial geomorphology and digital terrain analysis
Her recent publications explore carbon dynamics in peatlands and low-cost sensor solutions. She collaborates with institutions globally and contributes to the Manchester Environmental Research Institute. Claire teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in geography and advises students across all levels.
