Claire Farquharson is a Principal Lecturer in Sports Therapy and programme manager for the BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy programme at Hartpury University. She joined the institution in 2019 and is based in the Department of Sport. Previously, she served as a Senior Lecturer in Sports Therapy at Edge Hill University.

Her research interests center on pedagogical innovation in higher education, particularly in assessment design, feedback literacy, online learning, and curriculum development. She also investigates clinical aspects of sports therapy, including kinesiology taping, dynamic stability, and hamstring flexibility. Her work bridges academic teaching excellence with applied sports medicine.
The recent publications (2023–2025) reflect a strong focus on educational anatomy—deconstructing lesson planning, feedback systems, and assessment frameworks. These works emphasize improving student transition, engagement, and feedback literacy, often through structured, visual, and co-created educational tools. A smaller stream of earlier research (2015–2017) explores evidence-based sports therapy interventions, particularly kinesiology taping efficacy.

Claire actively supervises academic projects and contributes to educational leadership through external examining at the University of Chichester, peer reviewing for journals like Research in Sports Medicine, and organizing academic communities of practice. She has secured recognition for her contributions to teaching innovation and academic development. She also leads initiatives in using technology like Power Automate to enhance feedback systems.

She co-chairs the Community of Practice: Sports Medicine, Therapy and Rehabilitation, fostering collaboration among academics and practitioners. She also participates in national teaching networks and conferences, promoting pedagogical excellence in sports therapy education.
