Claire D. Clark is an Associate Professor of Behavioral Science and History at the University of Kentucky’s College of Medicine. She serves as Director of Graduate Studies in Clinical and Translational Science and directs the interdisciplinary Medical Behavioral Science program. Her research focuses on health activism, healthcare institutional development, and the intersection of community and medical ethics in 20th/21st century U.S. history. She leads the required 'Introduction to Clinical Medicine' course for medical students and teaches a capstone course integrating health humanities with clinical practice.
- Education: PhD/MPH from Emory University (2014), BA in Film & Philosophy from Vassar College (2003)
Her research interests include the history of medicine/public health, addiction treatment, and behavioral sciences. Her award-winning book The Recovery Revolution (Columbia UP, 2017) examines addiction treatment battles. She holds grants from NIH, CDC, and NEH, and serves as Health Humanities Consortium co-president.
