Dr. Olapeju Simoyan is a Professor of Psychiatry at Drexel University College of Medicine. She holds dual expertise in addiction medicine and public health, with a focus on integrating arts into healthcare. A graduate of Penn State College of Medicine and Johns Hopkins MPH program, her career spans roles as a family physician, addiction medicine specialist, and academic leader.
Her research interests include addiction treatment, medical humanities, and healthcare workforce development. She authored I Played My Best for Him!, exploring the history of Christmas carols, and released an album blending music with medical storytelling. Dr. Simoyan is a member of AMWA’s Music and Medicine committee, presenting at international conferences like IAMM 2024 in Berlin.
Awarded the 2022 National Humanism in Medicine Medal, she advocates for physician well-being and creative expression in medicine. She pioneered addiction medicine training programs and serves as former Medical Director at multiple treatment facilities.
