Claire Bryson is a Senior Lecturer at the University of the West of Scotland (UWS), based in the School of Health and Life Sciences. She transitioned from clinical nursing to academia, holding roles in NHS Ayrshire and Arran and NHS Education for Scotland before joining UWS in 2014. Her academic background includes a Diploma in Nursing (1995), a BSc in Health Studies (1997, Paisley University), an MSc in Advanced Practice (Practice Education, Dundee University), and a current Professional Doctorate at UWS.
Her research focuses on practice education, mentorship, and clinical learning experiences. Her ongoing Professional Doctorate uses Action Research to explore new models of mentorship, addressing the needs of students, mentors, and managers in healthcare. She has conducted systematic reviews and presented at conferences, such as the 2015 NET conference.
Claire teaches in the Adult BSc Nursing program and the postgraduate mentorship program at Ayr Campus. Her expertise bridges clinical practice and educational strategies, aiming to enhance practice-based learning in evolving healthcare environments.
