Cindy Wood

Cindy Wood is a Senior Lecturer in Medieval History at the University of Winchester, affiliated with the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Her research focuses on late medieval religion, intercession, churches, and the royal family, with a particular interest in historical graffiti and material culture. She holds a PhD (2010) and MA (2004) from the University of Winchester, both focused on medieval chantries and religious architecture.

Her research explores topics such as medieval death practices, monasticism, and the role of standing buildings like churches and chapels. She actively collaborates with local heritage groups, including the Hampshire Field Club Graffiti Group, and leads projects like the Winchester Research Apprenticeship Project (WRAP) to document historical graffiti in Winchester Cathedral.

Her publications span book chapters, peer-reviewed articles, and reviews on topics like late medieval religious architecture, royal chapels, and chantries. She serves on the editorial board of the Southern History Society and as Secretary for the Friends of Clarendon Royal Palace.
