Dr. Molloy's research centers on historical victimology, exploring how societal and institutional responses to crime—particularly sexual violence and youth deviance—have evolved in Ireland. Her work critically examines the cultural representations of crime through media, legal frameworks, and state practices, with recurring themes of vigilantism, victim treatment, and the intersection of crime and culture. She is currently developing a monograph analyzing Irish youth subcultures from the 1950s to contemporary times, building on her doctoral research.
Her publication record reveals a consistent trajectory in historical criminology focused on Irish contexts, spanning topics from joyriding in 1980s Ireland to the evolution of rape law reform. These works demonstrate methodological rigor in archival research while addressing contemporary implications for victim support systems and criminal justice policy. The interdisciplinary nature of her scholarship connects legal history, cultural studies, and victimology through meticulous historical analysis.
