Professor Jonathan Doak serves as the Associate Dean for Research at Nottingham Law School, Nottingham Trent University. His academic career spans institutions including Queen’s University Belfast, Durham University, the University of Sheffield, the Open University, and Ulster University.

Jonathan’s research focuses on the rights of vulnerable parties in criminal justice, including children and individuals with disabilities. He explores restorative justice, transitional justice, evidence law, and the intersection of victims’ rights with human rights norms.
His recent work includes a socio-legal analysis of victims’ rights in state crime and horizontal crime, alongside collaborative research on criminal advocacy practices across the UK and Ireland. The 2024 report Mapping the Changing Face of Cross-Examination and an upcoming 2025 monograph highlight his contributions.
