Ci Ji Lim, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research focuses on understanding the molecular architecture of human telomeres—protective chromosomal structures whose dysfunction contributes to aging and diseases like cancer. Using integrated approaches in biochemistry, biophysics, and molecular engineering, the Lim Lab investigates telomeric protein distribution, chromatin dynamics during cell division, and functional regulation of these repetitive DNA regions.
Research Interests: Professor Lim specializes in:
- Mapping telomere chromatin landscapes
- Single-molecule analysis of protein-DNA interactions
- Cryo-electron microscopy applications
- Dynamics of DNA replication machinery
- Developing diagnostic/therapeutic strategies for telomere-related pathologies
Awards:
- Pew Biomedical Scholars Award (2024)
He leads the Lim Lab, which pioneers techniques to study genomic 'dark matter' comprising repetitive DNA sequences. This work aims to reveal fundamental mechanisms governing chromosomal integrity and stability.
