Chuyun Oh is an Associate Professor of Dance Theory at San Diego State University (SDSU), affiliated with the School of Music and Dance within the College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts. She holds a Ph.D. in Performance Studies from the University of Texas at Austin and is a Fulbright Scholar. Her research focuses on K-pop dance studies, performance ethnography, and the intersection of race, gender, and cultural identity in dance. She pioneered the first K-pop dance theory course in the U.S. and runs the Oniz Lab research institute, awarding K-pop Creator Certificates.

Her book K-pop Dance: Fandoming Yourself on Social Media (Routledge, 2022) was an Amazon bestseller and shortlisted for the de la Torre Bueno First Book Award. Her scholarship explores global K-pop fandom, dance activism (e.g., Refugee Dance Project), and the cultural politics of performance.
