Dr. Chunyu Xiu is a Lecturer in HR Analytics at the University of Leeds’ Leeds University Business School, affiliated with the People, Work and Employment (PWE) Department and the Centre for Employment Relations Innovation and Change. He joined the institution in April 2024 after completing his PhD at the University of Liverpool Management School. As a Deputy Programme Director for the MSc Data Analytics and Human Resource Management, he teaches courses including People Analytics, Strategic HRM, and HR Analytics Research Methods. His research focuses on HR attributions and disruptive technologies adoption in HRM, with notable projects funded by an NHS Foundation Trust and Serbian Zijin Copper.
Dr. Xiu holds a PhD in Management Studies (2024, University of Liverpool), an MRes in Research Methodology (2019, University of Liverpool), and an MLitt in Human Resource Management (2017, University of St Andrews). He is an Associate Fellow of Advance HE and reviews for journals like the International Journal of Human Resource Management.
His research interests span two key areas: (1) how employees’ perceptions of HR practices affect workplace outcomes, and (2) the impact of disruptive technologies (AI, blockchain, big data) on organizational performance. Notable projects include examining blockchain’s role in pandemic supply chains and analyzing performance-based pay in multinational corporations. He actively contributes to professional networks like the Academy of Management and European Association of Work and Organizational Psychology.
