Jiachen Shi is a Lecturer in Management Consulting and Human Resource Management at the University of Leeds' Leeds University Business School, based in the People, Work and Employment Department. She serves as Deputy Programme Director for MSc Management Consulting and teaches across BA/MA/MSc programmes, including modules like Strategic Human Resource Management and Employment Law. She holds a PhD in Work and Employment Relations from the University of Leeds (2018), an MA in HRM (2013), and a BSc in HRM from the University of International Business and Economics (China, 2010).
Her research focuses on strategic HRM, labour migration in transitions, and just transitions towards net-zero societies. Current projects include a HBS-funded study on just transitions in 13 countries and a WUN-funded analysis of migration systems during the pandemic. She is affiliated with the Centre for Employment Relations, Innovation and Change (CERIC) and contributes to debates on sustainable development goals, platform economies, and social inequalities.
Jiachen's teaching spans HRM, employment law, globalization impacts, and gender equality. She advises on HRM dissertations and mentors students through personal tutoring roles. Her work bridges academic research with practical HR challenges in sectors like finance and broadcasting.
