Christopher Sweeney

Professor Christopher Sweeney MBBS is a Medical Oncologist and the inaugural Director of the South Australian Immunogenomics Cancer Institute (SAiGENCI) at the University of Adelaide. He is affiliated with the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences and has held leadership roles in clinical research, including Associate Director for Clinical Research at the Simon Cancer Center (Indiana University Medical Center) and positions at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School.

His research focuses on genitourinary malignancies (prostate, testicular, and bladder cancers), translational drug discovery, and radiation therapy optimization. He has led over 300 peer-reviewed publications in journals like the New England Journal of Medicine, Lancet, and Nature Medicine, with work informing regulatory standards in prostate cancer trials via the ICECaP collaboration.

Key projects include:

• Targeting NF-κB with DMAPT for prostate cancer therapy
• Combining DMAPT with Radioligand Therapy (PSMA-targeted RLT) for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer
• Investigating MYBL2 as a therapeutic target in aggressive prostate cancer
• Developing an integrated cancer analytics repository combining clinical, molecular, and imaging data for ~2000 mHSPC patients
