Christopher Shorr is an Associate Professor of Theater Arts at Moravian University, where he directs the Theatre Program and serves as Artistic Director of the Moravian University Theatre Company. He teaches courses in Public Speaking, Art of Theatre, and Playwriting. Previously, he was the founding artistic director of Sycamore Rouge in Virginia and an Ensemble Associate with Touchstone Theatre in Pennsylvania. His work spans stage directing, playwriting, and design, with performances across the U.S. and internationally in Romania, Hungary, Italy, and the Czech Republic.
Shorr holds a B.A. in Theatre Arts from Drew University and an M.F.A. in Stage Directing from Virginia Commonwealth University. His research focuses on creating new theatre pieces and reimagining classic texts to provoke critical engagement and community dialogue. Notable works include The Pan Show series, Faust in France, and Bhudoo, which toured Europe. He has also collaborated extensively with Touchstone Theatre on projects like Journey from the East and Dear Tamaqua—In a New Light.
His awards include the Bethlehem Press's 'Best Original Play of the Year' for The Pan Show series. Shorr emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration and community-focused theatre, aiming to bridge campus and local Bethlehem audiences through transformative performances.
