Jenny Ballard is an Assistant Professor of Theatre at Cumberland University, located in the Heydel Fine Arts Center. She holds a B.A. in English and Theatre from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and an M.F.A. in Theatre Performance from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge. Prior to Cumberland, she served as Managing Artistic Director of Theatre Baton Rouge and as an Adjunct Professor in LSU’s Theatre Department for over a decade.
Her professional career spans over 25 years of acting and directing, with notable stage performances in plays like Proof, The Taming of the Shrew, and King Lear, and film/TV roles in American Horror Story: Coven, NCIS: New Orleans, and Apple TV+'s Black Bird. She has directed acclaimed productions of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Rock of Ages, and Monty Python’s Spamalot.
Ballard is a member of SAG-AFTRA and actively contributes to theatre education and community arts through her dual roles as an academic and artistic director.
