Lincoln Universityمعرفی
Dr Christopher Rosin is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Tourism, Sport & Society at Lincoln University, New Zealand. His academic journey includes a PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, an MS from Pennsylvania State University, and a BA from Gustavus Adolphus College. He actively contributes to Lincoln University's Centre of Excellence: Designing Future Productive Landscapes and participates in the Blue Economies theme of the Sustainable Seas National Science Challenge.
Dr Rosin's research centers on social theories of human-environment relations, with a specific focus on agri-food systems as contexts where social activity intersects with ecological dynamics. His work examines best-practice certification schemes in agriculture, climate change mitigation strategies, and global food security issues. He employs post-structural theoretical frameworks including convention theory, subjectivities, and assemblage theory (with attention to non-human agency) to analyze environmental practices in agricultural contexts.
His recent research focuses on three key areas: the social 'life' of data in agricultural contexts, sustainable marine tourism development, and pastoral farmers' responses to climate change. These research streams reflect his commitment to understanding how social dynamics shape environmental outcomes in food production and tourism contexts.
Dr Rosin has built an extensive publication record with 82 publications to date, demonstrating consistent scholarly output across environmental studies, tourism, and agricultural sociology. His work shows increasing emphasis on data relations in agricultural contexts, heritage-based food authentication, and climate change adaptation in farming systems. The interdisciplinary nature of his research bridges environmental sociology, food studies, and tourism scholarship.
Among his notable professional contributions, Dr Rosin co-organized the 26th Annual Meeting of the Australasian Agri-Food Research Network in 2019 and regularly reviews articles for international journals in rural studies, geography, and rural sociology. He has also examined doctoral theses, contributing to academic quality assurance.
Dr Rosin supervises a diverse cohort of graduate students working on international research projects spanning multiple continents. His supervision portfolio includes PhD research on gender and agricultural policy in Malawi, food tourism in China, farm tourism in Vietnam, and leisure experiences of Chinese students in New Zealand. He also supervises research on farmer adoption of agro-ecological practices in New Zealand and conservation agriculture in Indonesia.
His international collaborations include partnerships with academics from the USA, Indonesia, and Brazil, reflecting the global relevance of his research on food systems and sustainability. Dr Rosin's work addresses United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2 (Zero Hunger) and 13 (Climate Action), demonstrating his commitment to research with practical implications for global challenges.
